Support for Staff during COVID-19

• A free wellbeing support helpline 0300 131 7000, operated by the Samaritans is available from 7.00am – 11.00pm seven days a week, providing confidential listening from trained professionals and specialist advice – including coaching, bereavement care, mental health and financial help. NHS staff can call for support, signposting and confidential listening.

• A 24/7 text alternative to the above helpline operated by Shout – NHS staff can simply text FRONTLINE to 85258.

Coronavirus Pandemic – Memento for Bereaved Families and Carers- Knitted Hearts

At this challenging time when COVID-19 is affecting so many people we are looking at ways our nursing and midwifery staff can support families following the death of their loved one. Knitted hearts will be offered to families with another remaining with the deceased in the hope it will allow them to feel more connected to their relative who has recently died.

Psychological First Aid e-Module 

We’d like to make you aware of the availability of a new Psychological First Aid e-Module on Turas Learn that the NHS Education for Scotland Psychology team has produced. This may be of interest to you/your networks so please disseminate information about it as appropriate.

This module is designed to support anyone who is delivering health or social care to deliver effective Psychological First Aid (PFA) throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. PFA is a humane, supportive and flexible response to people who are in distress or suffering during and after crises or emergencies like the current COVID-19 pandemic.
