This training is open to all middle/senior grade staff and managers and provides a structured evidence based approach to communication skills. This interactive day is facilitated by experienced trainers in communication and will include a variety of teaching techniques for example, scenario based group work, DVD skills exercises and interactive discussion. Participants are asked to bring examples of communication challenges, share their own experiences and explore the way the models and techniques used in the training will help improve practice.

This communication workshop uses a mix of small group work, lectures and interactive rehearsals based on participant’s scenarios to teach and demonstrate a structure approach to noticing distress, hearing concerns and responding helpfully.

This day facilitates active participation and explorations surrounding best practice in relation to: • Palliative Care & Symptom Management • Local & National Palliative Care Policies and Guidelines • Person Centred Care & the Holistic Assessment of Needs • Medicine’s commonly used in Palliative Care ie. Opiates • The T34 syringe pump and the subcutaneous administration route

* End of Life Care DayEnd of Life Care Day

This study day supports our NHSGG&C Guidance at End of Life (GAEL) & CAS Standard 11: End of Life Care. It is open to all Registered Healthcare Professionals and it is mandatory for all CAS Standard 11 Link Nurses to attend.
